Become independent, confident writers.
What is the Framing Your Thoughts Writing Program?
Our writing program at the Colorado Reading Center provides students with a stress-free way to improve their writing. We use the Framing Your Thoughts program, which offers a clear, logical process to help students write better sentences, paragraphs, and essays. This method makes grammar fun and easy to understand by using visual symbols and hands-on activities to reinforce learning.
Multi-Sensory Learning for Effective Writing
We use multi-sensory techniques (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic) to help students master grammar and writing. Each part of speech is assigned a simple name and symbol to make it easier to understand sentence structure. This approach ensures students can quickly grasp concepts and apply them to their writing.
Step-by-Step Writing Skills
Our writing program moves students from basic sentence structure to essay writing at their own pace. Here’s what we cover:
- Sentence Basics: Students start by mastering complete sentences. They use visual symbols to understand sentence mechanics.
- Building Better Sentences: Students learn to add detail with adjectives, adverbs, and more, while practicing punctuation and editing.
- Paragraph Writing: We teach students how to organize and write effective paragraphs for different purposes.
- Essay Writing: Students expand their paragraphs into full essays, exploring their ideas more deeply with a clear structure for brainstorming, writing, and editing.
