Strong Start: A Reading Readiness Program
This summer, The Colorado Reading Center is launching Strong Start. Strong Start is a small group, reading readiness program for children entering kindergarten or 1st grade. The program focuses on building the foundational skills that support reading success in a supportive, age-appropriate environment. Our skilled tutors use the Science of Reading to help young readers explore literacy and develop the confidence to start the school year strong!
Whether your child is a curious emerging reader or showing early signs of difficulty, our small-group program provides the structured support they need.

What Your Child Will Learn
This two-week program builds foundational reading skills through engaging, multisensory lessons. Students will strengthen:
- Language processing
- Phonological awareness
- Sound-symbol relationships
- Print awareness
- Letter formation and handwriting
- Early decoding skills
These essential skills form the bedrock for future reading fluency and classroom success.

Summer Skills Lab: Academic Boost
The Summer Skills Lab is designed to combat the summer slide and give your student an academic boost. We focus on Reading, Spelling, Writing, and Comprehension – tailoring the program to your student’s specific needs. We recommend 20 hours over the summer, meeting twice a week for targeted skill development.

Level Up: Summer Reading Intensive
For students needing more intensive support, our Level Up program offers a concentrated intervention. Level Up is 2 hours per day, 3-5 times per week, totaling 80 hours over the summer. Level Up is designed to help students catch up and advance grade levels in key reading skills.

Bridge to School: August Reading Boost
Get your student ready for a seamless transition back to school with our Bridge to School program. Offered in August only, this program provides a focused boost to reading skills, minimizing the summer slide and building confidence before the school year begins. Choose from 5 or 10 prepaid sessions, currently 5% off!
